Blog After First Observation By Personal Tutor

Blog After First Observation By Personal Tutor

What was my opinion about my lesson?

The aim of this lesson was to equip the learners with the understanding of logarithm and its application to non-linear and indicial equations.

In order to achieve the aims the learners were taught the logarithm. The learners were introduced to the concept of logarithm and were made to solve some numerical examples to consolidate their understanding. During the lesson the students were engaged through maximum interaction in a cooperative and friendly way. At the end of the session each student was confident to tell what they learnt during the lesson. Their feedback showed that they achieved maximum learning outcomes of the lesson.

How the tutor evaluated my lesson:

The tutor evaluated my lesson as pass. However some areas were highlighted for further improvements.

What can be improved and How (Action Plan)

The following table shows the areas which needs improvements and the plans for these improvements.

ACTION PLAN

Agreed priorities for improvement

What’s the Area?

What will be improved for learners?

How shall we fix it? (Action – short term /long term)

How will we know? (Monitoring and review, including dates)

Planning and preparation (for example, lesson plan and other evidence).

·         Clear plan to check learning should be included e.g. task completion, Q&A, describing process etc.

·         Include the LLN level of thestudents.

·         More differentiation strategies should be used to help weaker students

·      In my lesson plan I will include clear plan of techniques used for checking the learning

·      I will include the LLN level of the learners in my lesson plan

·      I will include more differentiated teaching techniques to help slow learner

Will be monitored and reviewed in next observation in Jan 2013

Use and appropriateness of material/resources

(incl. ICT).

·       Providing worksheet with differential questions will help slow learner and will challenge more ambitious learner

·      I will develop graded worksheets for each session including multiple questions and extension activities. This will cater for helping slow learners and challenging ambitious ones

Will be monitored and reviewed in next observation in Jan 2013

Manage learning using appropriate teaching techniques and employing effective communication strategies.

·      Resort to various teaching and learning activities to keep students engaged.

·      I will resort to various teaching activities in my teaching sessions e.g. discussion, group work, completing activities, graded worksheets etc

Will be monitored and reviewed in next observation in Jan 2013

Monitoring and assessing learning

·      Having longer activities after the presentation stage will enable you to monitor learning more.

·      A graded worksheets including  multiple questions and extension activities will allow more time for monitoring resulting in better assessment of learning

Will be monitored and reviewed in next observation in Jan 2013
